The 2008 Geauga County
Maple Festival is dedicated in the memory of Mrs. Beverly J. Carver who
passed away in January of the same year.
Beverly
was a fixture in the community and it is only appropriate to honor her and
her family at this time.
Mrs. Carver was a two-time President of the Maple Festival, and she sat on
the Festival Board of Directors for over 37 years.
Beverly
served as Executive Secretary to the Chardon Area Chamber of Commerce for 10
years and she was a recipient of Chardon’s ‘Business Person of the Year”
award.
Mrs. Carver worked for
the Sheriff’s Department and was the hostess at Main Street Café.
She was also a member of the Chardon Square Association. A
former Chardon Village Council member, she held the position of Village
Clerk-Treasurer for 10 years.
Beverly
was deemed ‘one of the outstanding citizens of Chardon’ and we honor her
here at the Festival today.
With our
Parade theme of ‘Celebrating our Maple Legacy’, what better time to salute a
true Chardon legacy.
The Maple
Festival and Chardon Shade Tree Commission have teamed up and will plant a
tree on the Square and dedicate it in Mrs. Carver’s honor thus guaranteeing
that she will never miss another Maple Festival !
FOLLOW UP:
These two trees were planted along the main walkway on Chardon Square
by the Chardon Shade Tree Commission and dedicated to the memory of Mrs.
Beverly Carver as her family members gathered in attendance. At the
request of her family, the trees will be decorated with only red lights each
Christmas season to commemorate Beverly's red hair.
