Geauga County was established in 1806, with
Chardon as it's county seat. The name, Geauga, is a Native American word for Racoon. The
population currently considered from the 2000 census is 90,895. Geauga County covers 404
square miles of rolling hills and woodlands. Dotted with lakes and streams, and rich with
wildlife, it is a beautiful area in which to live and work. A blend of agriculture and
industry, as well as retail and service employ many residents. It's close proximity to
recreational areas including Lake Erie, coupled with nearby interstate access to
Cleveland, make it an ideal location.

arts and crafts abound. Burton is home to the Great Geauga County Fair held annually over
