One of the most anticipated events of the festival is the annual Bathtub Races, a thrilling and entertaining competition that draws both participants and spectators alike. Contestants creatively affix wheels and often elaborate decorations to traditional bathtubs, transforming them into imaginative racing vehicles as they speed down Main Street.
The event features both a men's bracket and a women's bracket, fostering friendly rivalry among participants. Each team consists of up to five members: one designated driver sits inside the bathtub while the remaining four serve as pushers.
During the race, only two pushers are permitted to propel the bathtub at any given time, ensuring that teams must strategize their rotations effectively. Contestants navigate a course of 250 feet down Main Street in Chardon Square, making a sharp turn at a designated turnaround point before racing back to the finish line.
This unique and entertaining event not only showcases creativity and teamwork but also provides an opportunity for community members to come together in a spirit of fun and competition. Spectators are treated to a lively atmosphere filled with laughter and excitement, making the Bathtub Races a beloved tradition at the festival.
